Posted: January 16, 2019
Winter begins in November and ends in February on the Chinese calendar. It is the season of Water. The Water element is associated with meditation and the power to cultivate wisdom through stillness. Wisdom gives us courage to move forward when we do not want to, and the courage to remain still when we are tempted to act prematurely.

Lynn’s favorite Bone Broth Recipe
In addition to being a tasty way to improve soups, bone broth is an excellent way to nourish the body. Filled with minerals, bone broth can also be sipped by the cup in times of illness and depletion.
There are many recipes for bone broth available online. I like the one I found at mercola.com which includes information about the many potential health benefits of broth. Healing the intestines from leaky gut, reducing joint pain and inflammation, strengthening bones, preventing infection, promoting healthy hair and nails are among the many claims made for this nutrient-dense food.

The Heart Only Says Yes!
When we do not listen for the heart’s “yes” and instead respond to the noisy voices of the mind and emotions, it is easy to lose connection with our spirit – the spirit of the heart. While points located throughout the body do connect to the spirit in a variety of ways, these upper kidney points located over the heart are called on in cases of resignation and disconnection from our inner spark.
Spirit Storehouse, Spirit Seal, Spirit Burial Ground. What do these points have in common? Not only do they have mysterious names indicating spiritual functions, but they each lie on the Kidney meridian as it travels up through the chest from the abdomen to the collar bones. Their presence over the heart gives us a clue as to the value of the heart in acupuncture theory.
