Meet Lynn Maloney

I began my acupuncture practice in July 2000 in Silver Spring, Md., near Washington, DC, where I practiced for three years prior to moving to Columbia, Mo., in December 2003. I completed my master's degree at the Traditional Acupuncture Institute in Columbia, Maryland and became nationally board certified (NCCAOM) as a Diplomate of Acupuncture.

State-licensed to practice acupuncture, I also serve as Past President of the Acupuncture Association of Missouri. Originally from the Chicago area, my return to the Midwest has provided me with a community I am proud to be a part of. I am a founding member and former Treasurer of Columbia's independent businesses association, COLORS (Columbia Locally-Owned Retail and Services), and teach yoga at Columbia's premier yoga studio, alleyCat Yoga.

My earlier training includes a bachelor's degree in religious studies from the University of Illinois-Urbana and a master's degree in the history of science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. During a three-year residency at the Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health in Lenox, Mass., I earned a certificate to teach Kripalu Yoga. I am also recognized by the Yoga Alliance as a registered yoga teacher.

My patients receive the benefit of my skills both as acupuncturist and yoga teacher. Often the tools of yoga assist my patients in learning how to better take care of themselves between treatments. Treatment involves more than acupuncture alone. It often includes simple suggestions and support for self-care tailored to each patient's specific needs, interests and desire for healing.

Acupuncture is a lifetime study, and I am blessed to have a teacher to study with regularly. I have been studying advanced pulse diagnosis with Dr. Thomas Duckworth, DKM in St. Louis, since February 2005, and have access to his supervision for my patients.
